Highlights

These are the highlights of the week 21-27 May: - This week I focused on the project planning and the structure of the summer individual research. And I started writing down details of the model, inspired by three papers that I have studied.

Research Structure

  • literature review
  • Research plan
  • model design
  • model prototype
  • model test and evaluation

Literature Review

I studied 3 Papers that were focused on the economics of climate change:

  • Advancing the estimation of future climate impacts within the United States
  • Historical effects of temperature and precipitation on California crop yields
  • The Economic Costs of Climate Change: A Multi-Sector Impact Assessment for Vietnam

The research outcome of work by Arndt, Tarp, and Thurlow (2015) shows the damage caused by sectors in percentages. In the case of Vietnam, it claims that the most impact is on the agriculture sector. The research output covers extreme scenarios, showing up to a doubled effect on results.

Model Design

These are the current sectors I am considering in the model: - Energy Sector: It is expected that the change in the trend of total energy use and the proportion of energy technologies will impact the economy. - Agriculture: livestock production - Climate - Economy
